Nuts & Low Profile Components

Mectron’s ‟N Series” flat track inspection systems are designed to inspect for ID aLowprofile1nd OD dimensions, internal threads, chip wraps, broached slots, nylon inserts.

Mectron provides high speed flat track inspection systems by utilizing multiple methods specifically designed for the most critical details of female fastener and low profile precision formed part applications. The ‟N Series” line of machines utilizes a combination of vision, digital eddy current and Mectron’s patented lasers for high speed gauging and inspection for an unlimited variety of fasteners in a wide range of materials. Using the aforementioned technologies, the ‟N Series” systems provide inspection of each piece, displays its dimensions on the computer touch screen, and automatically inspects the part features and measurements.

The ‟N Series” system automatically discards any part that does not meet the customer’s specifications such as ID/OD and height measurements, internal threads, broached slots, nylon inserts, chips, part damage, feature deviations, and foreign material. Specialized feeding systems ensure that each part is properly orientated and presented to the inspection stations in an exact manner.

In addition to vision and laser technology, Mectron utilizes MI9000 Magnetic Imagery™, an advanced eddy current technique which provides the most complete on-the-fly metallurgical inspection available on the market today. The instrument develops a magnetic image of each part as it passes through the machine to create the part’s unique signature.

Nuts low profile components

This full signature provides the opportunity to detect the most critical metallurgical defects such as cracks, material mixes, conductive plating, and hardness by a visual deviation in the magnetic image displayed. Acceptable limits can be quickly defined using the touch screen programming capabilities.

The combination of Mectron’s patented lasers, Magnetic Imagery™ eddy current and vision technologies provides the end user with the most advanced inspection machine available in the market today at speeds up to 300ppm.
